Aunts and Uncles formed in the spring of 2009 in Vancouver, Canada. This genre-blending quartet specializes in intricate and dynamic baroque indie pop, featuring violin, baritone guitar, upright and electric bass, drums, glokenspiel, ukulele and keyboards, rounded out by strong vocal harmonies. With great control of dynamics and a wide range of influences, this four-piece brings energy and emotion to the forefront of their performances. For Aunts and Uncles musical aesthetic comes first and their strong commitment to make new accessible but intricate music, has always been their priority.
Aunts and Uncles have shared the stage with Dan Mangan, Ladyhawk, Efterklang, The Luyas, Brave Irene, Angelo Spencer, Rose Melberg, Fanshaw, Ford Pier, Hot Panda, Kellarissa, Olenka and her Autumn Lovers, among many others.
