Ever since Dave Davies decided to slice the speaker cone of his amp open back in 1964 Rock music hasn't quite been the same. With this exponential leap in spirit raw passion began to roar past technical proficiency with pure Dionysian energy.

The Black Rainbows exist in this realm. They are a band that orbits around their own singularity, so genre comparisons and simple 'sounds like' lists will prove vague and inaccurate at best. It would be optimal, instead, to speak of qualities and in this sense their sound occupies a space somewhere between the terrifying energy of The Stooges, the addictiveness of The Ramones, and the abrasive beauty of Nirvana.

This is a band that's not even aware of trends, let alone one that follows them. They don't play it safe, and they're not making their music for you. The Black Rainbows make authentic, punk-tinged Garage Rock with charm, attitude and harmonies to spare, sharing more in common with early Rolling Stones than the inconsequential modern Indie Rock band du jour.

The Black Rainbows are currently working on their debut LP I Met This Chick… with Toronto producer/mixer Brian Moncarz (Moneen, Circa Survive, Neverending White Lights) for a summer 2012 release. It's somewhat of a 'concept album,' featuring 11 original tracks that tell a tale of love, lust, dread, drug trips and heartache -- all the good stuff that inspires great rock songs.

The Black Rainbows are Mike Anichini (Guitar/Vocals), Renato Carvalho (Bass/Vocals), & Sergio Santoianni (Drums/Vocals). They have been playing together since 2007, when Mike decided to drop out of school and use the rest of his student loan to buy a new guitar, an amp, a hand drum and a Sitar (being inspired by Brian Jones)...with hopes of putting it all into a record some day. Since then The Black Rainbows have played an impressive number of shows throughout Toronto at venues like The Bovine, The Horseshoe, The El Mocambo, The Hideout and The Rivoli, and were invited to play NXNE and SCENE Fest two years in a row.

The music of The Black Rainbows will resonate with fans of good songs with great melodies and endless sing-along appeal. Whether live or on record, their music is delivered with such loud, anthemic single coil conviction that your ears might start to bleed after listening.
