Clara Shandler is naturally short, red-haired, and a cellist. She was inspired to learn the cello at the age of 3 and engaged in classical training in both solo performance as well as chamber music. In the spring of 2012, Clara will graduate from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Music with a major in Music Scholarship. Although this program focused on the academic study of music, Clara has been very involved in performing both within and beyond the university.
Sidewalk Cellist, Clara Shandler performs in and around Vancouver regularly, making classical music more accessible by busking frequently, participating in free public events such as Make Music Vancouver and the Forest Symphony in Pacific Spirit Park, and organizing a Free Outdoor Cello Concert Series (both in Vancouver and on a North American Tour).
