ERIC ABRAMOVITZ, clarinet - 19 years old
Eric started studying the clarinet at the age of 7. He studied with Zaven Zakarian until the age of 17, and is currently studying with Alain Desgagné at McGill’s Schulich School of Music.
Eric was the winner of the woodwind category of the OSM Standard Life competition in 2011. Some other competitions he won include the McGill concerto competition, the Canadian Music Competition (2004, 2006-2009, 2011), and the OSJM concerto competition (Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montreal).
Eric has been featured as a soloist with I Musici de Montreal, the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, the McGill Symphony Orchestra, the OSJM, the Lakeshore Chamber Orchestra, and is scheduled to appear with the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec in April 2013.
Recent performances include pre-concerts at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, part of a concert series called Musically Speaking, and performances of the Copland clarinet concerto with the McGill symphony orchestra.
