In January of 2010 the musical styles of Jillian Wedel and Shauna Janz fused to form the sounds of Vital Hands. With a memorable stage presence and haunting melodies, open mics quickly turned to gigs for this duo, and the momentum continues. Wedel is classically trained in piano and has recently discovered her love for acoustic guitar and acoustic/electronic fusion. She holds a diploma in professional recording arts and has her own small project studio at home which houses Vital Hands' acoustic projects. Janz is self taught in guitar and brings with her an unconventional approach to songwriting and an impressive vocal range and style. Her debut solo album was released in 2008, and she has been performing all over Vancouver Island since. Together, Wedel and Janz give life to a genre they call "Progressive Folk Rock". Not limited by the confines of genre definitions however, expect to hear a diverse spectrum of sounds - from acoustic instrumentals, to raw vocal styles and provocative lyrics, to the introduction of electronic elements...
