“Having your song on Hockey Night in Canada tops every musician's bucket list” — Jim Cuddy
Got a heart-pounding, aspirational track in your catalogue (or in your head)? Here's your chance to score that music milestone!
Hockey Night in Canada Song Quest is on the hunt for songs that celebrate what hockey is about: teamwork, commitment, hard work and going for the goal. (Think Journey’s "Don’t Stop Believin’," BTO’s "Takin’ Care of Business" or Hedley’s "Invincible").
If you win, you'll record a studio version of your song with Canadian rocker Joel Plaskett, plus you'll join an exclusive club of artists like the Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts Band and Neil Young by having your track featured in a prime-time montage on Hockey Night in Canada (check out the montage featuring Matt Mays's "Take it on Faith" in the video above). You’ll cap off the experience with a trip to Lloydminster, Alta., where you’ll perform live at the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada concert.
In addition to being eligible for the national exposure that comes with the winning prize, song entries could potentially be played on CBC Radio One, 2 and 3.
Submissions accepted: Oct. 5 to Nov. 20, at CBCMusic.ca/SongQuest! Look for the "Submit your song" button.
But make sure to enter early. The more listens and likes your song gets at CBCMusic.ca, the more likely it is to get noticed by one of our judges.
The puck drops on voting Nov. 23. Votes, likes and listens will determine which songs our judges will consider for the top 50.
