A longtime music lover, I am a Great Lakes native, having grown up in Cleveland, Ohio (b. 1954), where performers such as Cream, Canned Heat, Neil Young, The Band, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, etc. all came through town during my growing up there from the late 60s thru the 70s. Made many family trips around the eastern edge of Lake Erie up thru Buffalo and around the bend of Lake Ontario for the race northeast to Toronto--an under 4-hour motor trip that put Canada in easy reach, and destined me to often want to vacation there.
In more recent years, moved to NYC, and started listening to Internet radio around Sept. 2009. Knew and had enjoyed CBC radio for years, but didn't know anything about CBC Radio 3 until then. It has been a treat getting to know the dozens of great artists on the station, like (to name only a handful) Portico, Sarah Harmer, Matt Mays, Cuff the Duke, Hannah Georgas, Luke Doucet, and Dan Mangan, and on-air folks like Lana Gay and Grant Lawrence, Vish, Craig, et al.
I am a book editor and publisher and over the years have brought out the books of many Canadian writers in the States--Quarrington, Berton, Mowat, Fawcett, Barfoot, Richler, Dallaire, Atwood, et al. I'll always love Canada.
My R3 personal ad, as per host Grant Lawrence's initiative of March 9, 2012
