Sweethearts! I go by a few variations of my name, Melissa or Miss Melissa will do for today. I'm a full blooded Anishinaabe, an urban Indian if you will, born and raised in Winnipeg.
For as long as I can remember MUSIC has always been a huge part of my life. My unquenchable thirst for a melody is probably what lead me to where I am today: a radio DJ. I work for a station here in Winnipeg called STREETZ FM, basically the only 24/7 Hip Hop station in Canada run by myself and a whole slew of incredible people. I host the morning show and also double as the Program & Music Director. On top of that, I also host a weekly syndicated radio program called The National Aboriginal Music Countdown produced out of NCI FM - I am blessed.
I've been a part of the Ab-Originals weekly podcast for just over a year now and I'm so proud to be rolling with such a great team! While I'm hear I'll play for you some great music out of a musical realm called "Indian Country": music from the Aboriginal peoples of Canada. Let's go!
