Great Bloomers is Lowell Sostomi (guitar, lead vocals), Adrian Cook (guitar, keys, vocals), Tim Moxam (guitar, trumpet, vocals), Anthony McKnight (bass) and Kyle Watt (drums). The Toronto based group relies on thick guitar and organ textures to produce a massive sound that is simultaneously vast and dense. Their live show takes this approach to dizzying depths ignited by a raucous energy that is undeniably infectious.
The five-piece released their debut LP Speak Of Trouble in 2009 to much acclaim including praise from legendary Canadian songwriter Gordon Lightfoot. “Great Bloomers album entitled Speak Of Trouble highlights the abilities of Lowell Sostomi as singer/songwriter and brings together a talented band of musicians with amazing dexterity, loads of energy, and very original arrangements. I’m impressed,” said Lightfoot. The success of the record saw the band tour the country several times including dates with Rural Alberta Advantage, Yukon Blonde and The Wooden Sky.
Now signed to Toronto based indie label Dine Alone Records, Great Bloomers will be releasing a tour exclusive 7” featuring two new tracks recorded by Chris Stringer (Timber Timbre, Ohbijou) and mastered by The Wooden Sky vocalist Gavin Gardiner. The band’s upcoming full-length record is expected out later this year on Dine Alone Records.
Currently wrapping up an East Coast tour with The Wooden Sky, the band will return home to Toronto to play Dine Alone Record’s CMF showcase before hitting the road with Library Voices and Yukon Blonde on a cross country tour.
