I loved college. Specifically I loved the live music at the bars and Student Union Cabarets and the new music from mix-tapes of new friends.
I loved Whitehorse. Two of the best years of my life as a single man in his 20's explored the wilds of North in nature and song. Live music pulses through the Yukon Territory and I caught my share of it between the Frostbite and Dawson City festivals to Lizard's Lounge and the Capital Hotel on Main and even a certain Folk-y Church basement.
Then I got stuck or lost or both. Working life found me listening to a lot of Top 40 Radio, making my musical taste dull as I made a living making others comfortablely numb.
Then I got an iPod. Within weeks I discovered Grant Lawrence's podcast. I've never left R3's side since. I had found my musical salvation. I still remember hearing Dragon Fli Empire on his 1st show. While time has marched on and R3 has grown and blossomed along with the artists that are it's soul, I still find time to worship each week.
Indie music is my love, and R3 is my mistress.
PS: Congrats on the great new site.
Update Feb 11, 2012: PS: Congrats on seeding the R3 site to the rest of CBC Music. Glad to have helped a little.
