Will Currie &The Country French are from Waterloo, Ontario and have been making music and filling dance halls since 2008. The band’s heavy bass lines and danceable drum beats are held together by rhythmic piano and ripping guitar to support Currie’s infectious melodies. Their exhilarating stage show soon caught the attention of Canadian rock band Sloan who promptly signed them to their label Murderecords. Their debut EP A Great Stage was released and quickly garnered critical acclaim and earned the band a cult-like following. A cross-Canada tour with Sloan soon followed and both bands recorded the single ‘Push Pins’,which earned them a CBC Radio 3 Award for Best Collaboration.
Will Currie &The Country French have toured Canada several times, sharing the stage with many incredible artists including Dan Mangan, Tokyo Police Club, Arkells, Our Lady Peace, David Wilcox, Zeus, Hey Rosetta!, Said The Whale, and many more.
The band joined the impressive roster of artists under the label File Under:Music, and their full-length debut record Awake,You Sleepers! was released in 2011. It is the subject of praise from both critics and musicians alike.
In June of 2015, the release of "They Killed Us" marked the band's return to their roots in classical music training at Wilfrid Laurier University; its blend of symphonic arrangements in pop music has garnered attention in Canada and the US.
