biographical info
The boys of The Rosewoods weren't always on the same plane when it came to musical styles. Various listening backgrounds and influences created a mixed-up, chaotic sound that many likened to each band member's instruments in a melee. The core of the band regrouped in late '08, and enlisted a new lead singer and musical direction after their original and beloved frontman, Graham Campbell, left for greener pastures. The new Rosewoods decided to focus on the songs and leave the jamming for the Grateful Dead.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Ryan Christopher fronts the band with lead vocals and adds a certain raw authenticity to the music. Kent Randall hails from Peterborough, Ontario and as resident keyboard/pianist is the musicologist of the group. Cousins Aaron Muniak, bass, and Tyler Plante, lead guitar, spent their adolescence growing up a few blocks apart in Welland, Ontario, honing their diversely influenced skills. Lastly, on drums and percussion, Andreas Houlios pulls from a vast array of cultural stylings and continues to create innovative beats that drive the band forward and hold them together.
Formed officially in December of 2008, The Rosewoods (in their newest form) have been busy writing, gigging and recording. They have recently finished recording their demo with producer Anthony Mancini in St. Catherine's, Ontario and are gearing up to head back to begin working on a full length release. They have headlined at notable venues including Toronto's 'The Rivoli' and Peterborough's 'The Montreal House' and have shared the stage with the likes of The Waking Eyes, Paper Lions, and Natasha Waterman.
Having been described as "A rock and roll powered machine," it is quite obvious that these lads play because they love it, and they want to share it with you. Download your very own free copy of our new EP, Exigency, now at www.therosewoods.ca Enjoy.
