biographical info

Sandy Cassels is Sandy Barron, John Hadley, Cam May and Andrew Hume. After recording the full-length The Deadball Era, the band set off to release two 7''s first, for some reason. "Mulligatorian Arms" (a split with Cryin Adams) and "Championship Banners" were released in 2011. The Deadball Era and Trouble Pictures, both 12''s, will follow in 2012. The band's live show is centered in Barron's periphratic yet melodic musings about historical socialists, second chances, and scalpel worthy emotive sungazery. Also there is his shaky guitar playing, Andrew Hume's drums, Cam May's bass and rhodes, as well as John Hadley's pedal steel/guitar/and banjo. On record, Barron usually brings in as many people as possible; including: John Beriault, Jacqueline Bell, Clinton St John, Lucid 44, Brendan Fraser, and Michael Godwin.

September 1st at the Marquee Room, Calgary. The first of a triumvirate of Sandy Cassels 7''s, recorded by Cam May (Mulligatorian Arms), Pat Palarsky (Championship Banners/Otto Bauer), and Clinton St John (Wilhelm's Wilhelm).

Side B is my favourite Cryin Adams track. Recorded by Chris Dadge on December 27th 2010. Dave Smith on voice/guitar, Sandy Barron on bass/backups, John Beriault on drums/backups.
