Hi! We're a new 4-piece band from Calgary, Alberta, playing charming and edgy indie pop/roots for your listening pleasure. All of our songs are written by my new husband Gareth, lead singer and rhythm guitarist. I'm his wife Laurie - I play bass and sing backups. Our bandmates and good friends Ben Rayner and Tynan Groves, drums and lead guitars respectively, round out the band. Last year, Gareth moved from Winnipeg to Calgary to live with me. We were just married in May, and had a rock and roll reception featuring our labelmates and friends - but of course lonely hunters headlined! We're so excited about our new life together and our new record.
Our new album with our record collective, Grumpy Cloud Records, is now available. We had a Calgary CD release party last Saturday, July 7 at the very cool Marquee Room. Joining us were a great band called Said the Whale. It went really well, and we had tons of fun!
The Chaste are Chased features 9 songs recorded at Face Value Studios in Winnipeg. They are recorded, produced, and mixed by Face Value's head cheese, our friend and Grumpy Cloud Records labelmate (from The Haste) Ryan McVeigh. Ryan has a ton of experience as an instructor in audio engineering at the Mid-Ocean School of Recording Arts, a place where a lot of cool bands like The Weakerthans have recorded. We're so happy with the finished product.
