boy howdy, 78 fans! in this age of myspaces and captchas that doesn't
seem like a whole lot, but when i saw that jim guthrie - who is a God
among men here in Guelph, Ontario - only has a measly 64 fans, well i
can tell you i was flattered enough to blog about it!
i often listen to
this CBC3 thing while i'm drawing and on the few occasions where i've
heard my own tunes streamed it has been a truly humbling delight. so i
felt compelled to offer something of an update.
i released a new
album this past august called "the great depression" under the moniker
Common Grackle. these are all tunes that i wrote with the help of a
proper hip-hop producer from out west by the name of Factor. you can
check out some songs here at CBC3 or on our myspace page. the album is
available worldwide from Fake Four Inc so if you go to your locally
owned mom-and-pop record store they should be able to order it for you,
or better yet: buy it from circle into square for only nine bucks! or
itunes! or download it for free from you you favorite bit torrent site, i
don't really give a shit!
you know what else? we're playing a
show this week! it's at the E-bar (41 quebec street) here in guelph on
November 11. check out the facebook event page right HERE. speaking of
facebook: i know it's kind of lame and vacuous, but i do have a personal
page that i update with new art and music much more regularly then this
one so feel free to add your old pal pepper. there's also a fan page for Common
Grackle where we post reviews, interviews, and the odd "rare" recording.
and since you're sitting in front of your computer, i may as well direct
you to some other spots where you can see or hear more from me:
camp pepper - my official website, divided into "music" and "art"
youtube - i only just recently set this up, but i do intend on adding more of my animation and live clips
soundcloud - like the youtube thing, i'm still figuring this out, but
i've got a couple demos up there that you can download on the free tip.
as for the future, we have already confirmed a bunch of tour dates in
late february and early march, starting in quebec and working westwards.
after that we'll likely be enduring the rubber gloves and trying to
cross the boarder and do some touring down there. i will be joined by my
label mates ceschi and louis logic, both of whom i have the utmost
respect and admiration for.
the immediate future is slightly less
exciting. i will be doing some production work for sideroad records and
lots of drawing for no idea records as well as i ♥ productions. new 10
song Gregory Pepper & his Problems EP in the works, but still in the
demo phase. it will be in the key of E minor - which i find to be the
saddest key - and focus mainly on the topic of death and loss, which has
been a prevailing theme in my writing these days.
but look, i could go on all day about myself. my mother would be jealous
to see how much attention i'm paying to the interent. i just wanted to
thank everyone for listening and let you know how much i appreciate it.
with fond regards,
gregory pepper
