dana is gone is Dana McGinnity.
He first began recording songs in high school on a boombox and sharing tapes with his friends, Dana was influenced early on by a vibrant local music scene, particularly lo-fi cassette demos and artists working with home recording technology.
Born of a desire to fit into that scene (without the real ability to do so) Dana began recording tracks on a home computer using a cheap microphone and whatever instruments he could find at yard sales, pawn shops, and in the case of one chord organ, rescued from the curbside on garbage day. Through support by The Astral Plain Collective, dana is gone has released three full length albums, one ep (available as bonus tracks on "sad sac and sorry songs") and a split cd with Ottawa's Eric Matolsci.
dana is gone has also appeared on a Vulpine Records compilation.
Dana McGinnity is also 1/2 of The Glendas a cult-movie-horror-punk band with Josiah Barnett
