Angels to Ashes was formed in 2004 when four talented friends came together with their musical ability to create a band founded in the roots of modern rock and metal. Sean Sayers on main vocals, guitar, keyboard and harmonica, Daniel McLaughlin on bass guitar and backup vocals, RJ Bevis on rhythm guitar and Joe Wheeler on lead. In 2008 the band solidified their line-up with the addition of Morley Seguin on drums.
From 2004 to 2006 Angels to Ashes spent most of their time Playing in the local bar scene of northern Alberta while developing their musical style and writing their own songs. In 2007, Sean Sayers took a chance and auditioned for the number 1 hit television show Canadian Idol. The judges were impressed with his vocal abilities and stage presence and sent him to Toronto For the next round of competition. Sean fought his way through the many hopefuls finishing within the top forty out of several thousand.
This event benefited the band like no other. With the accomplishment of Sean performing on national television the status of the band began to change. By 2008 Angels to Ashes had made their mark, playing live on local radio stations, television and any major event occurring within the vicinity. They where given the opportunity of playing sold out shows with some of Canada’s greatest artists including Theory of a Dead Man, Honeymoon Suite, Tupelo Honey, Social Code, Mariana's Trench, and Matt Mays & El Torpedo.
Angels to Ashes used this opportunity to self-produce their first CD, “A Dead Letter EP ” which was continually sold out after every show. With the success of that CD the band began to prepare for their next release.In the beginning of 2009 Angels to Ashes went into the studio with producer and fellow Canadian idol contestant, Josh Palmer and partner Silviu Moldovan to create their debut album "Enochian". Since it's release the album's first single "Landslide" has been well received by several rock radio stations and been placed in regular rotation on most. As the band grows they continually garner more commercial success and are quickly becoming a mainstay in the Canadian Independent Music Scene.
