biographical info
"Oh, no, no, no, it was too cold always [...] I was much too far out all my life/And not waving but drowning." - Stevie Smith, 'Not Waving But Drowning'
Zachary, who also makes up one half of lo-fi indie pop act Cinéma Vérité (Le Grand Magistery/Darla) and chillwave experiment Washed Hands (Lebanon, Mass), is a graduate of Ryerson University's School of Image Arts Film Studies program. He moved to Montréal in July 2010, and though the scores he wrote for his classmates' films expanded into writing pop songs for both fun and profit.
When Cinéma Vérité's first North American tour with Benoît Pioulard (Kranky) was put to an untimely death due to United States border complications, Zachary channeled his disappointment into new material.
Organized and edited, this new material collectively forms his debut solo LP. Artist in Montréal is a sprawling and fluid electro-acoustic pop LP, and includes appearances from Atlanta based rapper Knife, Sea Oleena, and Cinéma Vérité guitarist Guillaume Harvey.
Artist in Montreal will be released in 2012, and will be mastered by Aaron Munson aka. Ilkae (Merck).
