Your Neck of the Woods hails from the booming music scene of Guelph, ON. These six friends form a dynamic folk/bluegrass outfit with standard instrumentation of guitar, mandolin, upright bass, banjo and fiddle blended together with pulsing drums beats and hair-raising harmonies. This collection of sound and energy has gathered a reputation for getting audiences hollering as they stomp across the dance floor.
You'll find roots and fifths behind chunky acoustic chords, supporting the melancholic throaty growl of frontman Ben Doerksen. The upbeat elements are superbly balanced by powerful sing-alongs, passionately delivered by leading lady Nicole Bilyea. The music is overflowing with entrancing melodies that remain stuck in your head for days. After enjoying the success from their Cabin EP released in 2010, YNOTW released their debut LP in late March 2012. The new album delivers the familiar crowd pleasers, along with new tracks that display the band's growth and maturation.
YNOTW has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with acts such as The Acorn, Bry Webb of the Constantines, Craig Cardiff and Cuff the Duke. The band is branching out of their familiar territory, playing for new audiences across Ontario. Plans are in the works for a tour of the new LP in summer of 2012.
