biographical info
A rock and roll-meets-indie-meets-pop band, Writers' Strike (formerly The First Aid Kit) is made up of Conor Hancey, Matt Davidson, Tynan Dunfield, Amy Bollivar and Darryl Smith. They write songs layered thick with guitars and synths and packed to the edges with hooks. And they sing like they mean it. Though they currently live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, they all grew up scattered across Ontario, Nova Scotia and California. Conor (guitar/bass/vocals), Darryl (guitar/bass/vocals) and Matt (guitar/bass/vocals) knew each other for ages and went to summer camp together. They eventually decided to start a band and settled in Halifax where they rounded out the group with Craig (drums) and Amy (keyboards) in November 2006. Tynan joined on drums in 2010.
Writers' Strike released the Rocket Summer EP in the summer of 2007 and the Still Standing EP in January 2009. They are currently working on their first full length record (to be released early 2012). They released the single "Bad Time" in September 2010, and just released the 3-song 'Stay Down' EP on November 22, 2011.
