. . . music to warm yer bones
Willy Blizzard is fronted by Canadian singer/songwriter John Hough. Their new album In From the Cold (release date June 2010) draws on classic themes of Canada: the landscape, the people, the history. Their music carries the stamp of our land.
Deeply rooted in Canadian folk music, John is both a sensitive writer and a convincing interpreter of others’ material. He first came to the attention of wider audiences as lead vocalist/guitarist for the Vancouver based Celtic band Under the Moss and their album Raking the Coals. His solo album Train Through a Northern Town is a true taste of Canada from coast to coast.
The warm baritone of John's vocals has been heard at concerts and festivals since, well, since before the turn of the century, and he's still out there! Performance credits include Expo ’86 in Vancouver, the Festival of Friends in Ontario, the Vancouver Folk Festival, Mission Folk Festival, Filberg Festival, and the Harrison Festival of the Arts.
With the rockin' lead guitar of Fran Madigan and the warmth of Andrea Law's acoustic bass, Willy Blizzard's concerts convey genuine musical and lyrical warmth and add just a little more insight into the heart of Canada.
