biographical info
Willie Stratton is an eighteen year old songwriter from Nova Scotia.
After realising creating music was what he wanted to do with his life, he
decided to become a writer like his influences Woody Guthrie, Skip James, and,
John Keats. A songwriter of instinct, Willie has a flair for writing catchy
songs that leave the listener moved by the raw emotion in them. Although his
roots are firmly placed in folk and blues, he draws inspiration from many
different lyrical and musical influences.
After teaching himself various instruments over the years, Willie
started writing songs at the tender age of 12: "I used this keyboard my
family had and everything that made a sound around the house to write on before
I even picked up the guitar!” he says jokingly. But it wasn't until joining
local bands at 14 as front singer and guitarist that he decided to make music
his life dream. Based on the reception of his latest compositions, the future
looks promising!
