biographical info
In the beginning, Sarah Mangle played her
ukelele-lovin' heart out alone at college festivals, art openings, and
house shows, until she met Cassie Norton, a composer/vioinist who saw
the potential for pimping out the songs with lush strings. Cassie
recruited more string players, violinist Ingrid Wissink and
violist/pianist Leah McKeil. When it came time to record their first
album, "Congratulations ha ha ha", they added still more collaborators,
including Sarah's childhood friend, Montreal jazz musician Greg Burton,
and Lake of Stew's Dan McKell.
Sarah describes the music as
being like “a phone call from your favorite animal”: warm, maybe a
little fuzzy, and strangely unnerving.
