biographical info
Untimely Demise is a Three-piece thrash metal band hailing from the frigid Canadian prairie city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Derived from the ashes of their previous tech-punk band of the same name, the current group was formed in April 2006 by brothers Matthew (Lead and Rhythm Guitar & Vocals) and Murray Cuthbertson (Bass), the band joined forces with Scott Cross (Drums) and Matt Haines (Lead Guitar *replaced in 2009 by Noel Wilcox who has since left the group) to complete the line-up. The goal since day one was to create original metal music where technical guitar work and a punishing rhythm section was paramount. Drawing from seminal bands such as Megadeth, Metallica, Death, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Exodus, Testament and countless others, Untimely Demise soon garnered fans and respect by playing the type of metal that many other contemporary act’s skills and creativity impedes them from doing so. After sharing stages with modern metal leaders 3 Inches of Blood, Into Eternity, Toxic Holocaust, and many others, the band set out to record an EP album that truly showcased their skills as songwriters and players - this mission would soon lead the band to Toronto to record with ex-Megadeth /King Diamond/Eidolon lead guitar genius Glen Drover. The end result of the weeklong November 2008 recording session would yield a cutting-edge, solo laden, thrash metal album, that still stays true to traditional metal sensibilities and character. After the album was mixed, legendary American thrash/post apocalyptic artist Ed Repka (Rust In Peace, Peace Sells, etc) agreed to create the cover art that would personify the band’s intense sound. after touring Western Canada with Winnipeg NWOBHM shredders Evil Survives in the fall of 2009, the band has currently immersed themselves in writing a blistering new full length album which will be out in the summer of 2010!
