biographical info

A small (very small) slice of musical history from a city filled with it. Ulysses was originally formed in 1996, in Montreal, Canada, by the band's guitarist Frank and its drummer Vince. In need of a vocalist, Paul, who had occasionally sat in on a few jam sessions, was coaxed into the position. The last remaining piece of the puzzle was finally found in the summer of 2000, when John was asked to be the group's bassist.

Throughout 2001 and 2002, Ulysses unloaded a free self-produced six-track EP CD including fan-fave songs like Twenty-One and Zippo. In late Spring of 2003, Ulysses released their self-titled debut album. With a variety of influences that span from the 60's to the present day, the songs on this album are what the band love about rock and roll. The album was recorded by the members of Ulysses in their analogue studio using, among other things, tube amps, vintage fibreglass drums, and an old 8-track tape recorder. The result is good ol' fun rock n' roll.

By the very end of 2003 and after nearly 4 years of rocking stages, long winter-cold nights with wine, and cop's warnings, Ulysses decided to take an indefinite hiatus. Vince joined Priestess, a Montreal hard rock band, and John moved to Toronto and joined Femme Generation, an indie rock group. Frank and Paul are pursuing other things.
