hey gang,

we're sitting in the san francisco airport waiting to board our plane for sydney, australia which leaves in about an hour. seems like a good time to announce that our newest record, territory, has been released in australia today thanks to the good people over at ABC! this is a big deal for us as this is the first time we've had a record released outside of canada. rest of the world beware...

speaking of the rest of the world, we're planning on releasing the record in the US in september and hope to throw a bit of a tour together to support that. we'll keep you posted. both of these releases will come with a few bonus tracks, namely "heroes of the sidewalk", "jezebel", "nighthawks" and "backseat sweetheart".

in other news, we've started to play a few new songs and are working hard on more. we hope to play them for you all soon. time to prepare for the longest flight of our lives. wish us luck.

tomorrow we leave charlottetown behind for the big city with the mission of shooting a shiny new video for "happiness burns". our friend richie mitchell, who co-directed "noisemaker", will be at the helm. should be a doozy. we have really enjoyed having some quality time at home over the past few weeks and are getting close on 2 or 3 new tunes that we're really excited about.

we hope to play at least one of them live before we take the 100 hour plane ride to australia next month. we're still sorting our summer out but hopefully we'll be playing near you all sometime soon.

hey everyone,

we've just arrived in cape breton after a nice, long, terrifying, dark drive through windy cape breton roads. we're going to be playing the cruise pavilion tonight at 9:40PM and then attempting to meet up with any and all of our east coast pals and begin the nonstop party that is the east coast music awards. there are a ton of great bands around this weekend... mardeen... english words... the danks and many others so it should be one to remember. it all leads up to sunday where we go toe-to-toe with our long time friend and producer joel plaskett for pop album of the year...

we'll report back with any news from the red carpet.

after months of hard work our friends at shark teeth films and lithium studios have finished work on our video epic, "noisemaker". we want to thank everyone involved, especially richie mitchell and adrian carter who co-directed this juggernaut. i never thought we'd enter the animated world. we hope you all like it. i'm told alec and liam will be dropping by much on demand on friday, february 27th with the video in hand live from whistler, bc during the 2010 olympics games.

in other news, we're happy to announce that we'll be embarking on an eastern canadian tour with australia's dead letter chorus. we're especially excited to be playing montreal as we haven't been to quebec in too long.  hopefully best friends by the end of this tour, DLC will be showing us around australia this summer. it looks like "territory" will be released down under as well which is pretty swell. we'll keep you posted.

no longer hypocrites, we will finally travel to a TERRITORY, playing the frostbite festival in whitehorse, yukon! the festival runs between february 19th and 21st. we will be closing the saturday night show. tickets can be purchased here. we’re also excited to be all over british columbia during the olympics next month. we’ll be playing vancouver, whistler, surrey and richmond. check out the profile for all the details.

we've been laying low for the last few weeks in order to ski and buy/open presents. now that 2010 is here we're back on the move. we'll be playing the rebecca cohn with city and colour at the start of february and then slowly move west to take in some of the olympic festivities. until then we'll be bunkered down writing new songs and eating stale fruitcake.

our new album should be at your local record shop as of today. i saw one for the first time yesterday and they look great. big ups to our pal genevieve long who painted the snazzy little poster that comes as an insert with the cd.

hitting the road friday with a new roof rack which replaced the one which flew off in new brunswick. will the new one suffer the same fate? we'll find out soon.

"stuck for the summer" is being used as the theme song for a new mtv reality show called Camp'd Out. if you enjoy campfires and teen romance then you have hit the jackpot! it kicks off with a special two-hour episode on april 25th. apologies to our fellow canadians, as this show is airing only in the US right now.

on sunday we head to halifax nova scotia to begin recording our new album. despite what you may have read it has no title as of yet. we're very lucky to be working alongside joel plaskett again. we've been busy recording demos with him for the past month or so trying to make sure everything will be as good as we can make it. the record will be mixed by our new pal howard redekopp, who has worked on some of our favorite albums. how can we go wrong...?
we'll try and post an update or two from the studio depending on how well we can maintain our sanity.

we made it home alive from tour about two weeks ago now. we'd like to thank everyone who made it out to a show or two. it is much appreciated and kept fuel in goldust's gas tank. aside from having to deal with the danks every night, things went very well. since returning home we've been working away on tightening up the new songs with our friend joel plaskett. things are starting to sound just right and if all goes to plan we'll start recording at the end of february. album titles being tossed around so far include "giraffe skateboard", "the teen commandments", and "monkey business". that last one may or may not be taken by the black eyed peas which could throw a wrench into things. we'll be playing a new year's eve show at the wave in charlottetown and hopefully in halifax on the second weekend of january along with some collagen rock friends. happy holidays to all!

hey all,

after a soul-shattering 15 hour drive yesterday we're sitting in new york city eating calzones. no sign of stephen merritt or the strokes YET. we leave tomorrow for toronto, as we're getting ready to play lee's palace on friday along with our collagen rock cohorts the danks and toronto pals the i spies. just a reminder that things get going early, doors at 7:30, and we'll be on around 9:30.

after that we'll be sticking around for all the polaris prize hoopla on sunday. i hear that shad knows how to party. i guess we'll see.
 
we're also planning a western canadian tour for november along with another east coast band or two. more on that later.

the nice people over at xm radio have nominated us for 'best artist' and 'best album' for the verge music awards. it's nice to see some of our pals like mardeen and the museum pieces in the mix as well. it's too bad we have to crush them. i believe it's all based on public voting so if you feel like laying a vote or two for us you can head right...here!

please excuse the recent lack of blogging. we've been busy relaxing on our home of prince edward island for the past few weeks. when not relaxing in the sun we've been preparing for the launch of COLLAGEN ROCK RECORDS, a collective of the best and brightest bands from these here parts. aside from ourselves, the roster includes:
