The Tonekats have been on top of the Kingston music scene for over 5 years playing all of the best clubs, festivals, events and cruises. They have now changed their focus to creating their own music. Dave Bull, the multi-instrumentalist and guitarist often works on the songs in studio before "road testing". The band is then brought in to make the ideas into a sound befitting the "ToneKats".
Dave Bull played his first professional gig in 1977 at his high school in Toronto. He plays "Buddy" in "Buddy Holly Lives!" across theatres since 1999. He is bandleader of the ToneKats and has a substantial body of work of original songs he continues to add to monthly. Dave is known for his guitar playing and always said his singing was a result of being the only one willing way back in 1976.
John Sedgwick is a former front man, bassist for the Beautiful Losers. He has shared stages with Blue Rodeo, Joan Osborne, Slik Toxic, Modern English, Jeff Healy and Mountain to name a few.
Cousin Paul Koktan is an accomplished 40 year piano master. He plays as well as services pianos and concert grands and his acumen and attention to tone is impeccable as are his chops. Paul also plays accordion and sings ,melodic backgrounds when not arranging band backing vocals.
Dan Killen, is a young drum virtuoso who the ToneKats have been fortunate enough to share co-operatively with Rock Bottom. Dan also plays bass in "The Lost City" and guitar. He is an impressive power rock drummer with butterfly hands when a soft touch is needed and plenty of lead when the thunder erupts!
Drums on all recordings from the "Damaged, not Broken" CD were performed by the talented Chris Melanson. Drums on "Jackhammer" by Scott Evans, bass by Clint Hierlihy (The Esquires)
