biographical info
Toronto based composer-producer Todor Kobakov has one foot planted in the centre of Canada’s indie-rock pantheon and the other placed deep within the world of classical music. A key behind the scenes player in Canada’s music scene, Kobakov's work with the likes of Metric, Stars, Dan Mangan, Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Sarah Slean (and many others) has garnered critical acclaim.
Kobakov has created transcendent scores for dozens of Canadian and international commercials and feature films. In 2009, Kobakov released his solo debut "Pop Music" to overwhelming critical acclaim. Toronto’s Eye Weekly coined it “an instant classic”, Exclaim! called the album “a classical opus” and “hauntingly beautiful” while the Toronto Star proclaimed Kobakov “a cross between Erik Satie and Sufjan Stevens”.
Up next for Kobakov in 2011 are collaborations with KOS, Lily Frost, and Bob Kemis, in addition to writing music for his new solo album which will be released this Spring on Kobakov's '88 Calibre' imprint.
