biographical info
Tyr and Todd met at fishing camp when they caught the same fish and have been inseperable ever since.
The
Winks have been touring and releasing their cryptic psychedelic pop
music around the globe since the early 2000s. Their sound is built
around the juxtaposition of Tyr Jami’s delicate child-like voice and
amplified cello, mixed with Todd Macdonald’s moody baritone and
opalescent mandolin slices.
2010 marks the year they release their eighth release.
Step into the diffusing light of Twilights, a song-wheel
spinning in the wind, twisting day into dusk. The album explores the
wide array of styles, textures and emotions the Winks have been
experimenting with for the past 4 years. From intimate whispers to
howling cello feedback, the pounding drums disintegrate into space jams
that get up and dance until they fall back again into the lake.
Recorded
almost entirely live off the floor in their basement studio and mixed
with Rob Heaney (Cirque du Soleil, McGarrigle Sisters) Twilights is both raw and lush, truth and illusion.
Released summer/fall 2010 on Oh! Records/Castle in the Clouds
