biographical info
Forget all you think you know about drinking music....until you hear this band!!
The Unionist Ministers are a 9 piece Junkyard Hootenanny Ensemble originally based out of Peterborough, Ontario. Replete with banjo, mandolin, accordion, violin, melodica, electric and acoustic guitar, bass, harmonica, drums, and group harmonies, The Ministers have won fans throughout Ontario and Quebec with their high energy and endearing performances.
Their influences lie somewhere between the train yard and the barroom with music that cries the sorrows of a lonely wrangler and chants the indignation of a union in battle. The repertoire of The Unionist Ministers is constantly growing, an added benefit of having multiple established Peterborough Singer/Songwriters in the band.
The Unionist Ministers have shared the stage with great indie acts such as The Silver Hearts, Geoff Berner, The United Steel Workers of Montreal, BA Johnston, The Mahones, Drums and Tuba, The Kiss and Tells, Argyle, and the Kent Boys, The County Boys to name a few. The boys are also known to invite the ladies to play along!! They often welcome singer/songwriters Drea and raha to join in the hootenanny.
