biographical info

In Vancouver's long and glorious history of punk rock, few bands could match the angry and hilarious Subhumans. Forming on July 1st, 1978, the band’s first line-up was Brian Goble, ("Wimpy-Roy") on vocals, Ken Montgomery ("Dimwit") on drums, Gerry Hannah ("Gerry Useless") on bass and Mike Graham on guitar. Dimwit played with the band for a year, in which the band released their “Death To The Sickoids” single. Jim Imagawa joined to drum on a self-titled EP, the “Firing Squad” single, and the “Incorrect Thoughts” album. Gerry and Jim left in 1981 and bassist Ron Allan and drummer Randy Bowman joined for a second album, “No Wishes, No Prayers.” In 1982, Brian joined DOA, Mike went off to found Shanghai Dog, and the Subhumans were no more. By 1983 Gerry was in a group of political activists called Direct Action, who blew up an environmentally harmful hydro substation and bombed a Litton Industries plant which manufactured parts for the cruise missile. Gerry was arrested, sentenced to 10 years in jail, and served 5 years. In 1995, a reunited Subhumans toured and released a "best of" album, “Pissed Off...With Good Reason.” Now the band is back, with Brian on vocals, Gerry on bass, Mike Graham back on guitar and Jon Card (late of SNFU and DOA) on drums. Their new CD "New Dark Age Parade" is out now on G7 Welcoming Committee Records in Canada and Alternative Tentacles in the U.S., with a tour of Canada to follow starting October 13, 2006.
