biographical info
"Don't
bore us, get to the chorus!" With a motto cribbed from Tom Petty and the
Heartbreakers and a style all their own, The Sicks have been barn-storming the
Vancouver music scene as of late. Difficult to pigeonhole, the band's' sound
references a diversity of styles, from down and out country rockers to rum
flavored island grooves. The tie that binds it all together is an emotional
honesty and no-nonsense approach to song-craft that will keep their tunes
playing in your head for days.
After
releasing their debut full length album in August 2009, the band has been hard
at work winning over crowds with heartfelt and energetic performances, and
having a blast in the process. This
nose to the grindstone attitude and relentless pursuit of a good time are
starting to pay off, as The Sicks have been generating some great press, and
have just had their song "We Need More Reggae" added to the playlist
at The Shore 104.1 FM in Vancouver.
Recent success
comes as no surprise to the band members; The Sicks have never been afraid to
think big. From actually pulling off a
Mexican mini-tour as a fledgling cover band to drawing 2000 people to their 3rd
annual Canada Day fundraiser last summer, they always strive to take things to
the next level. Continuing with their
grandiose schemes, the coming months will see The Sicks sell out their legendary
“Sicksmas” holiday bash, begin tracking songs for their sophomore release, and
hit the road to further spread gospel of good times – peppered with a healthy
dose of rock n’ roll.
