biographical info

Menacing yet beautiful, The Scarlet Fever combines its glam rock roots with art rock’s avant-garde experimentation, and takes them to a pervasively darker post-punk place. Creating haunting soundscapes, littered with intrigue and a subtle whimsical optimism, the band delivers stunning, and sometimes slightly disturbing, portraits of the human condition.

Draper’s poignant lyricism, Peets’s fluid, enigmatic guitar style, Steel’s animated synthesizer riffs, Pope’s forbearing bass lines and Woodacre’s punk-meets-alternative drumming style create a unique sound that takes us away to a sinister, seductive playground inspired by David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Brain Eno, The Cure, Roxy Music, Joy Division and many others.

Releasing their debut full-length album “The Scarlet Fever” in 2010, earning a nomination for Best Indie Rock Band at the 2010 Toronto Independent Music Awards, and performing at NXNE 2010, The Scarlet Fever is carving out a niche in Toronto’s music scene.

The band is currently working on and recording material for their second album. The Scarlet Fever has brought its captivating, theatrical performances to Toronto venues such as the Silver Dollar, Neu+ral and Velvet Underground, to name a few, and is steadily building momentum outside the city.
