The Order Of Good Cheer
The Order of Good Cheer (L'Ordre de Bon Temps) in its historical legend
was a smashing peelers club. Samuel de Champlain organized a club for
men to get through the rough Canadian winters where those could indulge
in a monthly orgy of food, drink, and the touch of French strippers.
In 2009, Toronto scene legends and core members, Francesco Guidoccio,
David Tysowski, Chris Greenough and Kyle Wilson created the music
collective, The Order Of Good Cheer, to celebrate the essence and spirit
of the original club through music. The Order today is unique in many
ways: it collects no initiation fee, charges no dues and gathers for
feasting on BBQ, spirits and music.
In early 2010 The Order Of Good Cheer started recording their debut
album “Tanto Manta, Manta Tanto” with Toronto hot-shot guitarist and
producer Steve Krecklo (Cuff The Duke, K-Os, Small Sins, Major Maker).
The Cheer enlisted their friends and trusted associate Cheer members for
guest album appearances. Everyone from Liam O'Niel (The Stills), Lindy
Vopnford (Major Maker), Thom Darcy (All Systems Go, Small Sins), Todor
Kobakov (Emily Haines), Steven Senkiew (The Waking Eyes) and enigmatic
Craig “The Doctor” Brown all had their chance to be a part of history.
Prior to completing recording, early mixes found fans and music
placements in the filmmaker Kevin Smith's (Clerks, Dogma, Zak &
Miriam Make a Porno) documentary film, “Bear Nation” and hit iTunes
podcast “Smodcast”. This four on floor, real rock country record was
already picking up steam from its humble beginnings in Toronto's
Kensington Market to their recent sold-out efforts with The Arkells and
Hollerado at such legendary venues as the El Mocambo and Horseshoe
Tavern.
The Cheer invites all to participate in the glorious and sensual journey
in the contribution to the world of Rock and Roll. The band is known
for their lush, multi-layered, rock-country, post-punk, psychedelic
arrangements, spacey lyrics and bizarre song titles. They are also
acclaimed for their elaborate live shows which sometimes feature
costumes, dancing girls, video projections, complex stage light
configurations, large amounts of food and drink, and frontman Francesco
Guidoccio's larger than life, bigger then Jesus meets Elvis persona.
