biographical info
At
the start of 2009, in the small university city of Oxford, England, two
Canadian friends living far from home discovered a mutual love of hard-hitting
blues-rock. Brought together by random coincidence and kept together by a
shared love for music and fine beer, Iain Wills and Shane Saunderson started
jamming and before long had forged a bluesy, no-nonsense sound that critics
have said could drown out an orchestra. With that, The Noble Rogues were born.
The
Rogues’ first year saw broken bones, relationship woes, shattered toilets,
higher education, epic bike rides, good whisky, angry poets, more Guinness than
a St. Patty’s parade, and above all else, rock n’ roll. The year culminated in
the band’s ecstatic return to Canada as they settled in Toronto, Ontario,
recorded their first EP (Far From the Madding Crowd), and set out to win fans
in their home and native land.
In
2010, The Noble Rogues started a new chapter, adding bassist Ian Blechschmidt
to their mix. Sadly in August 2010 Ian played his last show with the Rogues
before moving to Chicago to pursue the next phase of his career. In September Shane and Iain welcomed Eddy
Chung (bass) and Jay Kana (guitar) into the fold.
With
superb song writing, pulse-altering rhythms, soul-shaking bass and riffs that
threaten to consume you in the blink of an eye, the latest incarnation of The Noble
Rogues are here to show Canada what rock is about. Get ready.
