biographical info

Originally formed in mid-2003 by Ryan Lenssen and Adrian Jewett under the name Thee Oneironauts (O-nye-rawn-nauts), the pair recorded and self-released an EP entitled Night of the Lawnchairs on Lenssen's GROK Studios imprint, based on the concept band Rushing to Redlights started by Lenssen. Thee Oneironauts grew to trio status with the addition of Nick Greaves on guitar. The Most Serene Republic released its debut album, Underwater Cinematographer, in 2004 on Sunday League Records as a six-piece band. Produced, mixed and engineered by Lenssen, mastered by Ryan Mills and recorded at ASF Studios, the album was remastered and re-released in the summer of 2005 on the Arts & Crafts label. The Most Serene Republic was the first band signed to Arts & Crafts that was not related to Broken Social Scene. In early 2006, the band released Phages, a tour-only EP. They are currently working in the on their follow up to Underwater Cinematographer, which will be released in October.

The influence they bring ranges from everything that is beautiful today and everything that was clever of yesterday. Their sound is an intoxicating reminder that if you stand in one place, the shadows can overtake you. A reminder of what's good about everything that is right now.
