biographical info

With a gigantic momentum common among select East Coast performers, the Matavaras are setting a fine example of Canadian musical craftsmanship and sheer talent. Hailing from Nova Scotia and Ontario, the band has just added their newest collection of material to fans' libraries everywhere.
Recorded in Toronto and Halifax, with the intent to invest in an adventure in music and technique, the band's debut album fully realizes that goal. Reminiscent of greats such as Daniel Lanois, Nick Drake and The Band, this recording features a solid collection of songs ranging in influence from the ears of classic rock, to perfectly catchy pop choruses and organ tinged ballads brought to life along side beautiful acoustic numbers. This record is a dead ringer for a strong radio presence as it begs drivers-seat dancing, infectious toe-tapping and all out air guitar.
Having shared the stage with notables such as Matt Mays and El Torpedo, Jesse Malin and the Novaks, the Matavaras have made a firm imprint regarding their place among peers in the Canadian music scene.
