biographical info
From Salt Spring Island, BC, The Hooper Family is made up of four musicians ( Mom, Dad and two teenage kids) who share a love for eclectic and alternative folk and pop music.
Music comes naturally to the group with both parents having been recording artists before moving off the beaten path to their idyllic island in the Pacific near Vancouver Island.
Tom Hooper was known for his Canadian folk-rock band in the 90's The Grapes of Wrath. They have platinum records to their credit and toured extensively in Canada and USA/Europe developing a loyal and genuine grassroots fan base. Mom, Suzanne Little was Tom's label mate at their mutual record company Nettwerk Records in Vancouver. Her band Lava hay was noted for blazing some do-it-yourself trails in the indy music scene of the 90's.
Their kids, Owen and Shane are both multi-instrumentalists and write and sing their own songs as well as appreciating the roots of rock and pop.
Listen to Owen's take on what Christmas brings to mind in his song "It's Christmas Time" Track 1. The Hooper Family can be seen playing on local island stages a couple of times a year, most notably at the annual Fall Fair and their favorite venue the Treehouse Cafe.
