biographical info
The Hangers established their spot in the Montreal underground
scene in 2009 when the Medias raved up the
hometown boys as “the revelation” of the first Montreal
Ska festival. With building success, the band launches
its debut album 'Half The Fun' to a sold out crowd at
Savoy du Metropolis and will follow up that release with
a tour of Quebec and Ontario.
Over the next few months, The Hangers made a named
for themselves by sharing the stage with big names in
the ska scene such as The Planet Smashers, the Toasters,
Chris Murray, and Colectivo. The young and refreshing
combo was also invited to large public events
such as Canada Day festivities and the Homecoming
festivities for the graduates of Mcgill University. The
Hangers caught the attention of Ska veteran, Mitch
Girio, who is charmed by the original and groovy tunes
of The Hangers and signs on to produce their second
album.
2011 is a determinant year for the band; as soon as
they’re done the recording sessions for Get Your Ticket,
The Hangers are on a mission to expand their fan base
by doing their first national tour, sponsored by the Montrea
l Ska Society, The Hangers played 16 cities in 24
days. Positive repercussions are instantaneous; their
sophomore album receives good critics, not only from
local Medias, but also from across the country, the U.S.,
South America, and Europe.
The Hangers stand out from the crowd by mixing a variety
of styles, including Rock, Funk, Ska and Reggae. The
quality of the band’s sound is undeniable as mentioned
in ThePier.org album review “The Hangers are yet another
group north of the U.S. border that are going hard
and succeeding. It is a unique compilation of not just
one style of music.” The warmth and the party atmo
sphere they bring to the stage are contagious, to a point
where more and more people want to experience The
Hangers live!
For 2012, the year is full of promises, as The Hangers
have been have been mandated to create the party

this, the band will hit the road for another national
tour in May. This fall, The Hangers will be bringing
