biographical info
Playing stoner rock riffs at punk rock speed, The Establishment has become known throughout the Maritimes for their high-energy brand of in-your-face aggressive rock. Their latest release, The Consumer – recorded at Archive Mastering with J. Lapointe (Instruments, ex-North of America) - is an album that not only captures the urgency of their live show but also reflects the band’s dedication to honest, socially aware music.
From the crunching, sludge riffs of the album’s title track, to the dirty Sonic Youth-esque bass lines on “In The Frame Of Light,” to the pummeling drums on “Only Exercises,” The Consumer clocks in at less than 25 minutes and is a solid knock out punch of Halifax-infused post-punk.
The release of this album marks the beginning of an indefinite hiatus for the band as the members begin to concentrate on their other Haligonian-based projects (Bike Rodeo, Sleepless Nights, Quiet Parade, Kuato). The Consumer is a very limited physical release (only 50 handmade copies available), and is also available for free download via Acadian Embassy (www.acadianembassy.com).
