biographical info

The Crux was born in late 2009. Dallas Decarlo hosted three members in his studio, Andrew Anderson, Paul Teleki, and Jared Lucas. Clint Clarke was recruited shortly thereafter to complete the lineup.

After the name, "The Crux" was finally decided upon, the band released its first EP in June 2010 during their second show to a packed house and rave reviews.

The end of a very busy 2010 saw The Crux restructure as Jared Lucas pursued other opportunities. 2011 bore new beginnings and emphasized new sounds as Andrew Anderson moved to lead guitar while Derek Weatherdon joined the band as the new rhythm guitarist and vocalist.

The addition of Weatherdon brought a different set of influences, attitudes, and styles to The Crux. Once the revamped group was ready to go, re-energized, they burst back onto the music scene; headlining shows, opening for touring acts, winning a major radio station sponsored talent competition, and receiving radio airplay. Very quickly, the band had established relevance. The unique, multi-influence hard rock sound of The Crux was reaching a wider and wider audience.

The very busy spring and summer of 2011 saw the band release it's second EP, 'Soul Pollution', a 5-song tour de force that highlighted Teleki's vocals, Anderson's inspired guitar work, and the rock-solid rhythm section of Decarlo and Clarke.

As well, 2011 saw The Crux appear at their first festival, Wolfstock, one of the largest outdoor festivals in eastern Ontario, sponsored by The Wolf 101.5 FM in Peterborough, thrilling the large crowd, opening for Wide Mouth Mason and Big Sugar. The fall was no less busy, with the group remaining in demand for live performances and back to creating more new tunes for their fans.

The Crux have had the honor of sharing the stage and playing with many major label and national touring acts such as Big Sugar, See Spot Run, James McKenty and The Spades, Wide Mouth Mason, Bleeker Ridge, The Paper Lions, The Birthday Boys, and many more, as well as playing several premier venues.

So much more to come for 2012. . .
