biographical info
The Coward and The Pelican originated as a basement-bound musical
adventure combining the songs of Philippe (le saltimbanque) on guitar
and the beats of his brother Etienne (le sage) on drums. The pair
realized they would need to summon some more musicians. With the
addition to the group of their sister Evelyne (la douce) on piano and
vocals, of their cousin Carmen (la bohème) on violin and of their good
friends Simon (l'oreille) on flute and Emma on trumpet, the newly
formed group was ready to make magic happen.
We write our songs in both english and french, because we are the
products of our environment... of our home, the city of Montreal. With
several shows under our belt, we set out to enthrall folks with tales
of old, slipping into the skin of princes, peasants and sailors in
order to recount their escapades with every performance...
We recorded our first EP entitled "Silhouettes" in January 2009. It is now available to be ordered online from our website (www.myspace.com/thecowardandthepelican)!
