Hello/Hola/Yo
The Boom Booms play music that moves you. It is honest and rootsy folk writing, the guts and tenderness of soul music, electrifying moments of rock bravado, the mellifluous joy of much african music, strong caribbean influence from the english and spanish speaking islands both, with a definite pop sensibility…..This is how I would describe the music. The performers themselves are spontaneous and interactive with the crowd and each other, dancing and laughing as they play. If the music is the drug, the show is the water that washes it down smooth, leaving revellers sweaty, smiling and wanting more.
Of the 6 members, 4 grew up together in East Vancouver and the other two members have close family ties. The genesis of the band was in tree planting camps, where they would play on the nights off. Their taste for adventure has taken them down the carefree highway from Vancouver to Panama in an Old RV dubbed the Boom Bus, playing shows at every stop along the way, then through South America too where they stayed in Rio de Janeiro for a stint, soaking in the samba revelry of Carnaval. This past winter season they spent on the road busking across Europe.
But don't let the hippie-traveller credentials mis-lead you, they have been gaining music scene success, with their song "When the Night" landing at #6 on the much more music countdown and being licensed to 90210, the banjo ballad "delivered" winning "Best Roots Song" at the worlds largest independent music awards, Just Plain Folks, and winning loyal fans playing at music festivals around BC.
Not to mention they are a PEAK PERFORMANCE PROJECT finalist.
Keep your eyes on these guys, their passion for exploration and the love they ceremoniously deliver at shows is sure to keep growing.
