biographical info
The Bon were formed in Toronto in mid-2008 by some heavy cats with some heavy pasts. Pete and Craig were both founding members of masked Mexi freak-outs The Tijuana Bibles, but their roots extend way back to early-mid 90's ground breakers The Leather Uppers and The Speed Kings. Bradley did time with anthemic rockers The Threat and Tim was a founding member of original Toronto hardcore band MSI. To coin a new catch phrase, they've got the juice, Newton! United by a desire to simply make the best music possible, The Bon have set aside the theatrics of previous projects while keeping the energy high. Their sound employs some of the musical tools of their past but re-forges them into a delay-ed out, double guitar sound that pays homage to early garage and instrumental rock, seventies punk, as well as epic/psych rock from both sides of the Atlantic.
In their brief history The Bon have played gigs with such heavyweights as Magic Christian, the Gories, Danko Jones and White Denim and released their first vinyl 7” single on Toronto's Boppa Do Down records. It was chosen by WFMU DJ Evan "Funk" Davies as one of the top single releases of 2009!
The Bon recorded and mixed their debut album with like-minded Tricky Woo guitarist Adrian Popovich at his Mountain City studio in Montreal. The resultant "Static Electricity" album has one foot in 60's mod and garage rock with another in psych and early punk sounds. The 11 songs range from the poppy to epicly heavy. Dig it!
