biographical info
Formed in the beginning of 2008, The Billie Hollies blend their combined
experience from the worlds of opera, choral, jazz, rock, and folk music
to create a unique and eclectic sound. They were featured on CBC2's
Deep Roots where Tom Power described their “immaculate” sound as
“classic femininity” and “eerie beauty”. They have also had their music
featured in the CBC documentary “A Kick In The Head” and on "This Great
White North" on 91.7KOOP FM in Texas. Their live performances (which
have included the Joe Burke Wolfe Island Literary Festival (3x), This Is
Not A Conservative Party at the Phoenix, Winterfolk at Cameron House,
and Torn From The Pages at Hugh's Room among others) thus far have
consistently gathered enthusiastic fans and elicited much praise from
their audiences.Their involvement with the Globe and Mail event "Torn
From the Pages" where they composed a mini-opera based on Claudia Dey's
novel "Stunt" was met with rave reviews. They have recently finished their first full-length album which was recorded by Toronto songwriter, guitarist and producer Paul Linklater and features album design by the Grammy award winning designer Peter Buchanan-Smith.
