Todd Butler--Well Known Satirist Shows his Musical Side--
Political and social satire was already a well known form of comedy by the fifth century. Later, court jesters were the only ones who could safely criticize their king, but the privilege depended upon comand of an argument combined with nimbleness of wit.
Todd Butler merely continues the long tradition of using clever good humour to help us see matters from another perspective.
The wordplay and commentary alone would be enough to make Butler a humourist of note, but his grasp of serious songwriting, not to mention mastery of guitar, puts him in a new category.
His new CD Idle Canadian shows that, not only is he a funny guy, but he can also write thoughtful, intelligent songs for thinking people.
Check out the flat-picking on Hard to be a Hero and the Strat on Feel the Hunger. This guy can actually sing and play!!
