biographical info
Formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the Spring of 1999, The Plan began as a vehicle for Michael Catano (North of America, State Champs) and Mackenzie Ogilvie (Led By Regret) to realise their long-standing desire to collaborate with one another. Immediately enlisting friends David Harrison and Jon Hut (The Motes, Equation of State, Recyclone) to join the project, the band entered a frenzied period of song writing and live performances. After a few months of inactivity and Jon Hut's departure, The Plan solidified their ranks with the addition of Ogilvie's Led By Regret bandmate, Lance Purcell.
Their sound rests somewhere between the chaos of early 1990's San Diego hardcore, the time signature-bending aggression of Chicago math rock and the soulful revolution of D.C.-style punk. It is the sound of disparate influences being filtered through four determined and creative musicians, and the result is a sound that captures the immediacy of Halifax's thriving underground.
