The New Black is a dog fight and a baby- born-in-the-backseat-of-a-cab of a band. Always up for a good fight , joke or drink the lads are four singer songwriters who are ambitiously whipping together a loving lullaby/ cacophony to summon ears from here to Beijing. Bassist singer Alex Karzis and guitarist singer Jim Bawks formerly of anglophile-JohnnyMarr loving band 33, met while slacking there way through radio and tv arts at a Toronto University. Along came guitarist singer Damian Seguin from localpop spawn Itsa Skitsa (featuring former punk threat, Demic Iain Staines) to start writing tunes with them. The boys found with the help of Jeff Rogers (Crash Test Dummies former manager) sardonic beatnik Brad Hart to pound tubs, sing a bit and play all the instruments just a wee bit too well, AND be left handed like most of the band. They are currently completing their world premier cd, and developing a reality comedy tv series, about boys who refuse to accept growing up gracefully.Always ready for a good laugh at each others expense, the foursome are constantly found video taping each other in compromising situations, which led to the video “Dude".All that aside, TNB is singer songwriter stuffwith all the usual anglo-harmonies, ‘merican boozy alt-country refs' and soaring, "I’m – Mark-Bolen!" riffs.
