biographical info
The Grey is a powerful and melodic rock quartet that periodically delves into experimental tangents. Formed in the spring of 2003, Ottawa, Canada, speratic practices amongst old friends in a sweltering attic soon turned into a weekly ritual and allowed the members of previous bands such as Shotmaker, Three Penny Opera, and Buried Inside (currently still together), and other various side projects to form a new musical unit. Matt Deline, Hayden Menzies, and Chuck Saso had crossed paths before in Three penny Opera, and recruited long time friend Steve Martin of Buried Inside. Steve’s departure in 2004 to fulfill the duties of Buried Inside left an opening that was wholeheartedly filled by Luke Rashotte (a.k.a. Hazzard). The band now strives to write innovative music that can capture their passion and play for as many ears as possible.
In August 2003 the Grey’s sophomore recording “Open Credit” was released on Ottawa punk rock godfather Shawn Scallen’s record label spectrasonicsound.
Since then The Grey has signed to DC area label Lovitt Records for their upcoming, 2006 release.
Frequent touring has allowed The Grey to share the stage with bands such as Engine Down, Thursday, The Constantines, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Death From Above 1979, The Marble Index and more.
The Grey is; Matt Deline (guitar/vox), Hayden Menzies (percussion), Chuck Saso (guitar/back vox), and Luke Rashotte (bass/vox).
