biographical info

The evolution of reggae and ska music over the past ten years has taken the genres to new and far places that they have never been. While continuing this evolution and pushing the barriers of the definition, The Expos stay true to the origins of the music, and recognize their own roots and culture in the process. The proof is in their sound, which is raw, melodic, and harmonic. Their live set is a perfect example of their ideals towards music and performance. They prioritize a muddy groove, and a thick rhythm that no crowd has been able to stand still to. In 2005, after their sound matured, and became more focused, the band decided to record their first studio record, Old Friends. They chose to work with the ultra-respected, Mitch "King Kong" Girio. And in the fall of that year, Mitch and the band spent seven long, fifteen hour days recording twelve tracks for their debut album. The Expos are seeing new beginnings. Their sound keeps advancing and maturing, and a re-release of their album Old Friends is due in mid-august on Stomp Records. They will support the disc with a nation-wide tour of Canada and the USA in Fall 06, and will continue to write and perform the music that they love.
